Mike Kelley at the Pompidou Center – Paris

May 2, 2013 through August 5, 2013 – Mike Kelley at the Pompidou Center features 100 distinctive pieces created between 1974 and 2011 in the first French retrospective dedicated to the work of this seminal contemporary and conceptual artist who was born in Detroit in 1954 and died prematurely in January 2012.  Unfolding as a visually exciting journey, the exhibition focuses on highlights of Kelley’s prolific, astonishingly rich and sometimes disturbing oeuvre that melds high art and popular culture and includes painting, sculpture, intimate works on paper, large installations, performance, music, video, photography and collaborative creations spanning the entirety of his 35-year career.
